Mentre sono in vacanza, tre studenti entrano in una caverna: dopo aver nuotato lungo un corso d'acqua sotterraneo, scoprono una strana creatura che si dimostra anche violenta. Una troupe televisiva, andata sul luogo per indagare, provoca la reazione della creatura, che esce allo scoperto minacciosamente. Catturata, suscita l'interesse della dottoressa Brockton, che ritiene trattarsi dell'anello mancante evolutivo e si dà da fare per dargli un'educazione. Ma l'avido Murdock si mette in mezzo e la creatura è libera e sempre più minacciosa.
