I bought this book after one of my friends recommended it to me. Like me, she had major difficulties with manipulative people at work. I work in a company where deception and meanness is part of everyday life, where putting people down, using them is the norm. I always struggled with dealing with these individuals. I tried to be nice, professional, kind but nothing worked, the more I tried , the more I was the subject of trickery. It reached the stage where I hated my job to the point I was contemplating quitting. One day I decided to fight fire with fire and to fight back. My friend insisted that I purchase HMM, which I did. I was very skeptical at first. How can a book help against those "veterans" nasty people? Let me tell you that it really did the trick and much more! The simplicity of the book is remarkable. It is written in a neat and sensible way. The approach and tactics are so easy to apply, but the most incredible thing about HMM is that everything and every step could be done covertly. Now a day no one can use me. I am able to understand what they are up to and hit back and hit where it hurts. The book gave me a sense of empowerment. I no longer fear manipulative people and in fact I cherish the fight. Thanks to this book I am able gain control rather than being the subject of control. If you had a similar experience, I would urge you to buy How to Manipulate the Manipulator, it will honestly change your life, a remarkable book.

Whatever you think about deception and no matter what your "ethical stand" on the subject is, it is a huge part of our daily interaction. In a way we are all "manipulators", we try to convey a different image to different people and in different settings, to obtain what we want. This book realize a fundamental fact in our daily life: no matter whom you are, manipulation is almost a daily occurrence in your life. I personally believe that if you are too naïve to realize this fact, than you are sadly misfortunate. The book has two main parts. In The first one it is more of a philosophical book than anything else. Although brief, I found it extremely profound and deep. Each sentence is written with a precision and carefully crafted. It is a Socratic wisdom; not preachy but more thought provoking. The writer is careful not to force his views on the reader. He is saying "that's what I think and it is up to you to agree or disagree". I thoroughly found the approach very invigorating and in a way "Human". In the second part of the book, the writer move ahead into the practical aspects of manipulation in everyday surroundings. It's a collection of well though and well organized tactics. It is a war and there is no "honorable" war, so getting down and dirty is an option. What makes the book stand out, is its cunning yet simple approach. The uniqueness of these tactics is that throughout your "application" of them, you remain invisible to your opponent; a ghost figure, a shadow. You hit your opponents but they don't know where the attacks are coming from, until you break them down. Perhaps out of all the praises I wrote so far, this one is the most genius. No book or war has been so centered on making invisibility one of its main goals, as this book does. Hit your enemy and even if you fail, you will still be safe and anonymous to your foe. I gather not many people would know about this book nor will it be widely publisised that is somewhat a pity because it certainly deserve better. Saying that, from a lucky person point of view who buys this book, they will certainly be equipped with a philosophy and tactical attentiveness which is hardly known or practiced by even the most notorious of opponents. Overall an amazing work of genius which will only be appreciated by those lucky few privileged to get their hand on this modern masterpiece.
