Complete description

In the early 1960s, Mo Foster's school band, The Trade Winds, played with primitive, five-watt amplifiers. Bracing themselves for fame, the band discussed upgrading to the new 17-watt Watkins Dominator which, at GBP38 10/-, they could afford between them but did they really need 17 watts? Twenty years on, touring with Jeff Beck, Mo's bass rig alone was 1,500 watts! The story of the first days of British rock guitar, told with contributions from many of the players who were there, among them Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Eric Clapton, Lonnie Donegan, George Harrison, John Paul Jones, Mark Knopfler, Hank Marvin, Gary Moore and 'Pino' Palladino. This title is illustrated with advertisements, memorabilia and rare photographs. Top page
